After the steep cobbled streets of Clovelly village, Clovelly Court’s Church and walled gardens made a pleasantly relaxing change, as did the woodland walk which connects the two.

The walled gardens are divided into distinct spaces, with wrought iron gates leading you from one hidden view to another.

The old church is beautifully preserved and surrounded by a well-tended graveyard…

…while the woodland walk features such eclectic specimens as bamboo, gunnera and even a ginkgo tree amongst the more traditional English autumn colours.

Clovelly is a delightful place to visit, with the added bonus of your ticket being valid for a full week, so you can return to see the bits you couldn’t fit in the first time round. Highly recommended.
